Volunteer Task Descriptions
1. MC/ Venue Manager TEAM
·        In control of the venue. See the FULL GUIDE
·        Liaise with Artists, sound persons and MC.
·        Announce the Artists onto stage. Read their bios in the Souvenir Program. Ask the artist if there is anything they’d like you to mention.
·        Ensure concerts/events kept to running sheets. Give artists 10 minute and 5 minute ending call if required.
·        Encores are generally not allowed due to the setup time required for the next act and for sound persons to be relaxed! Ask if the artist wants to do an encore and then ask them to plan it into their set eg 5 minutes before their scheduled finish time.
·        It’s OK for artists to sell their product but so as to not impede the next act’s setup time and space. Maybe find a space for them to do it at the back of the venue away from the stage.
·        Make general announcements as required. Mention the major sponsors:
o        Perisher Resorts Chamber of Commerce
o        Perisher (the operating company for the ski fields)
o        WIN Telavision
Mention the Festival Guessing Competition (Raffle) and the Merchandise Shop which is in the Skitube Terminal.
·        Ensure water kept maintained for artists on stage
·        Ensure venue is tidy, rubbish picked up, chairs stacked
·        Assist with stage set-up - chairs, tables, instruments
·        Liaise with Venue operator about any venue issues
·        At the end of your shift please wait for your replacement to arrive and have a chat handing over any issues, observations and helpful information.
·        Liaise with Site Manager for any Festival issues. Call David De Santi if any artists issues 0409 57 1788 (eg artist no show!)

2. SITE MANAGER
·        Manage the whole site and problems for a period of time.
·        Liaise with Volunteer Coordinator to acquire resources for solving problems.
·        Check-in with Transport volunteers
·        Travel over the site, observing and fixing any issues.
·        Talk to door control staff, MC/Venue Managers
·        Call David De Santi if any issues that can’t be solved 0409 57 1788

3. GUESSING COMPETITION (RAFFLE) SELLER
·        Sell tickets at every opportunity including Concerts
·        Travel to venues to walk through crowds
·        Pick up raffle packs /floats from Festival Office
·        Return cash to Festival Office or Belinda Shore at Smiggins Hotel
·        Place stubs of purchased tickets into Barrel for the Draw on Monday

4. FESTIVAL OFFICE
·        Meet and greet patrons
·        Sell Festival tickets to patrons and issue wristbands
·        Exchange vouchers for wristbands. Place on patrons
·        Provide souvenir programmes.general information
·        Maintain message board
·        Use cash registers
·        Use EFTPOS machine. Bruce will train on the spot.
5. VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
·        Register volunteers
·        Manage volunteer sign on and sign off for each shift
·        Allocate new volunteers to any slots to be filled.
·        Brief volunteers on job responsibilities
·        Brief volunteers on site layout
·        Brief volunteers on emergency procedures
·        Answer volunteer enquiries
·        Liaise with and alert Site Managers of volunteer shortages
·        Distribute wristbands and lanyards.
6. MERCHANDISE SHOP
·        Sell festival and performer merchandise – CDs, Books, Shirts
·        Liaise with performers to sell their merchandise
·        Stock merchandise shop
·        Use cash registers
·        Use EFTPOS machine
7. DOOR CONTROL
·        Ensure all entry is with relevant wristband.
·        Check the Wristband colour chart. Be familiar with the colours for that time
·        Liaise with Venue Manager / MC in regards to any issues.
·        Ensure all Festival signage is intact.
·        Provide souvenir programs to patrons if they require one.
·        Advise where people can purchase their tickets. Be familiar with the nearby locations to do so.
8. ARTIST REGISTRATION
·        Take Artist through their information guide including Code of Conduct and Terms of Agreement
·        Check Artists schedule and accommodation details
·        Check Artists contact number, add mobile number to list
·        Ask artist to provide a CD for the raffle if they are inclined.
·        Issue wristband.
·        Get each individual artist to sign the registration list
·        Advise artist they need to fill in APRA forms for each performance and return them to the Festival Reception Centre.
·        Issue program book.
·        If they have registered as a Volunteer then please check into the Volunteer. If they haven’t ask them if they would like to help and get them to see the volunteer folks.
·        Provide 5 CDs to the artist who provided tracks for the compilation CD.
·        Advise artists about the Merchandise Shop and get them to fill in sheets if they want to leave CDs. Commission is $3 per CD.
·        Send them to Transport Team to arrange their transport.
9. TRANSPORT TEAM
·        Take formal requests from artists for transport.
·        Log the requests and then advise Perisher transport by 2 way of the pickups required.
·        Ensure transport jobs that are done go off the list!
·        Need to be able to use 2 way. Need to provide precise information – pickup location & time, numbers to pickup, gear to pickup and destination.
