The Queen’s birthday weekend in June is the traditional start of the Australian ski season. Since 2009 the Perisher Valley in NSW’s Snowy Mountains has hosted a unique musical festival.
The festival has been an opportunity to soak up the magic of the snow fields whilst listening to some of Australia’s best musicians with a mix of world, folk, roots, blues, celtic, acoustic, traditional music, song, dance, poetry and yarnspinning.
The festival has used a number of intimate and picturesque venues in the Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes and Guthega. From our search of the internet we seem to be one of only a few multi-venue festivals in the snow in the world!
Our sincere thanks go to the 21 acts who donated their tracks for this compilation CD. It acts not only as a promotion of the third festival but in years to come a reminder of this unique event.
Thanks to our graphic designer Cori Isele, publicist Bettina Richter, photographers Mandy Lamont and Graeme Morrison, secretary Tracy Thew and the 2011 Festival organising and volunteer team. Thanks to Simon Blazey for the Love, Peace and Powder graphic.
We hope you enjoy this CD and the memories for those who attended the 2011 Perisher Snowy Mountains of Music. And for those who didn’t make it we hope to see you at a future festival in the Perisher snow fields!
Enjoy love, peace and the powder.
