PERISHER’S INAUGURAL 2009 MUSIC FESTIVAL RETURNS TO THE SNOWIES IN 2011

After a hugely successful inaugural festival in June 2009, and again in 2011, featuring major acts Tex Perkins and The Audreys, the Perisher Snowy Mountains of Music Festival will again set the snowfields alight next June 10 to 13, 2011.

"More than 6000 people have enjoyed this great new event over the last two years, and we are happy to be announcing its return for next season.” said Belinda Shore, President of the Perisher Resorts Chamber of Commerce.

“Music lovers from across the country headed to Perisher Ski Resort in the Snowy Mountains to launch the snow season and soak up the festive ambience and entertainment. The Festival is a terrific addition to the regional entertainment calendar making the opening weekend of the snow season an event to remember”.

Artistic Director David De Santi adds “The 2009 and 2010 festival line ups were impressive, with more than 120 artists and musicians performing across more than 9 venues and bars across the resort. Visitors to the mountains loved the eclectic mix of music and already bands are approaching the organisers to be included in the line up for 2011. Artist applications will close on Dec 31."

"The 2011 Snowy Mountains of Music is definitely going to be bigger, better and bolder and we are proud to present the only Australian festival held in the snow. Keep an eye on our website for the first artist announcements in February.

The Festival is great value - Earlybird Long Weekend Passes will be $99 for adults and children FREE!  In 2009 a massive 43 cm of snow fell during the Festival, so skiers and boarders can also pick up an Earlybird Perisher 3 day lift pass at only $120 Adult and $66 for children. The NPWS also offer a great value '3 days for the price of 2' Park Entry Fee special. Plus, there will be great accommodation specials available.

The Festival is family friendly with children’s workshops and performances and the Resort Shuttle makes it easy to move around the resort in all weather conditions.

The 2011 Perisher Snowy Mountains of Music willrun from Friday 10 June to Monday 13 June. The Festival is presented by the Perisher Resorts Chamber of Commerce and led by David De Santi, who has been the Artistic Director of the famed Illawarra Folk Festival since 1996.

The festival is an extraordinary opportunity for visitors to enjoy music from many different genres - world, folk, roots, blues, celtic and traditional music in the unique atmosphere of Australia’s most beautiful snow country.
